How a B2B SaaS tripled organic traffic and got cited in ChatGPT
+340%
organic traffic in 6 monthsCited in 38% of relevant ChatGPT queries by month 6, with traffic and pipeline both compounding.
Challenge
The client was a Series A B2B SaaS in the developer tooling space, growing fast on outbound and product-led signups but invisible in organic search. Their own brand name ranked, but the commercial-intent queries their buyers actually typed produced their competitors instead.
More urgently, when their CMO tested ChatGPT and Perplexity for the same queries, the LLMs cited four competitors and never mentioned the client. The CMO's read: outbound and PLG were carrying the business now, but if AI search continued growing as fast as it had been, an organic-invisible brand was a 12-month time bomb.
What we built
We deployed the Brand Visibility System with the full GEO layer. Phase 1 produced a topical authority map for the brand's full keyword universe — including the AI-search queries the CMO had been testing. Phase 2 designed the architecture: pillar pages, comparison content, glossary, and the GEO-specific content patterns that surface in LLM citations.
Phase 3 shipped the technical SEO baseline (Core Web Vitals, schema, sitemap, llms.txt) and the first 8 pillar articles. Each pillar article was engineered to the citation extraction pattern: definition-first paragraphs, comparison tables, statement-style claims, expert quotes (per the Princeton GEO study findings).
Phase 4 ran the editorial cadence at 4 articles/month and a parallel off-page authority program — original research published in month 4 that earned 23 referring domains in its first 30 days.
Results
- +340%
- Organic traffic growth (6 mo)
- 38%
- ChatGPT/Perplexity citation rate
- 32
- Pillar articles published
- 22% of total
- Organic-attributed pipeline (mo 9)
Organic traffic grew 340% over the six-month engagement window. The new traffic was concentrated on commercial-intent queries — the queries that produce trials and demos, not just blog visitors.
More strategically: by month 6, the brand was being cited in 38% of relevant queries on ChatGPT and Perplexity. The CMO's 12-month time bomb was defused. The brand now appears in AI-generated answers about the category alongside the four competitors that previously dominated.
Pipeline-attributed organic revenue went from a rounding error to ~22% of total inbound by month 9.
